CTC Women’s Four Miler Training Program
Now in its 15th year, the CTC Women’s Four Miler Training Program invites women ages 10 and older to participate in 12 consecutive Saturdays of group training and coaching. Previous running experience is not necessary and walkers are welcome! This established program prepares you to run (or walk) in the Charlottesville Women’s Four Miler Race.  Each week, experts provide information on women’s health and fitness. Great running information and tips included with your training program registration.

CTC Men’s Four Miler Training Program
Now in its 5th year, the CTC Men’s Four Miler Training Program (M4MTP) is a 10 week professionally supervised and coached program designed to help guide men to a healthier lifestyle and a new level of fitness. The short-term goal is the successful completion of the Charlottesville Men’s Four Miler foot race held early in December of each year. However, the long-term goal is to encourage men to take up regular exercise as part of an overall healthy lifestyle. The training includes short weekly talks on proper running, various health issues facing men, and professionally coached training runs appropriate to all levels of fitness. The program normally starts the first Saturday of October.

CTC Marathon and ½ Marathon Training Program

Since 1994,  The Charlottesville Track Club has guided 1,150 runners to a safe completion of a fall marathon or half-marathon of their choice. The program is designed to properly prepare runners of all abilities to complete their first long distance race or to improve on a previous effort. Each participant receives a personalized program tailored to match their individual needs, abilities and specific goals. The program is supervised by a coach, who has over 25 years of experience and each individual will be able to consult with this coach (for specific and personal concerns) throughout the training program.

Group Speed Workouts
The CTC is hosting weekly speed workouts during summer 2008.  The workouts are designed to help anyone wishing to improve their long distance (10K +) race pace and are open to anyone who has previous racing experience.  The group meets every Wednesday at 6:00 a.m. at the UVA track during the summer.  For more information, call 293-3367 to get specifics about the individual workouts.

Ten Miler Training Program
On November 3rd, the club will kick off its 20th annual training program for the area’s granddaddy of them all, the Charlottesville Ten Miler.  With the help of my great assistant Vickie Marsh and the wonderful volunteer services of 45 CTC Saturday morning “captains”, we have to once again guide close to 350 folks to their individual Ten Miler goals.  The group will meet every Saturday at 8:15AM at the UVA track throughout the Fall and Winter for a long run.  Like in past years, we will break the trainers into 4 different program levels (based on folks individual current training regimens).  Anyone is welcome to join us on any given Saturday.  Come see for yourself what 3,400 folks have had fun with during the winter over the past two decades!

CTC Point Series

Runners receive points for participating in the CTC sponsored races. If the runner places then he or she gets more points, on a descending scale, with eight points being the base that anyone who participates will get. So for example if a runner comes in first in his or her age group, he or she will get 18 points; second, 17 points, etc. The point series rewards those runners who may not necessarily be the fastest, but are persistent in running in the races. Also, only track club members are counted in terms of figuring out places.

We only track runners who have requested to be tracked.    If you wish to be tracked contact the CTC Point Series Master!
