Buses to the start, Race "expo" at a local casino/resort, small enough to feel like a hometown event, but enough support to feel safe.
Not a race suited for time goals. Red Rock Canyon is a National Park facility and you run the park roads up into the Canyon and then back down out of the canyon. Up and down, though paved, are very steep.
I ran the half marathon and greatly enjoyed the event. The half is run as a point to point race. It is my slowest half ever due to the steep grade in miles 3-9. There is a full marathon that runs at the same time-It operates as an out and back course, meaning you get the brutal hills mulitple times-- to run this course for a full marathon would be, simply put, brutal. To each his (or her) own , but.... |
